OUR PROCESS STEPS
Initial Consultation
Our Initial Consultation will help establish the reason for the project: new office, an expansion, or simple upgrade and optimization. We will also aim to provide a high-level budget to ensure we are on the right track.
Site Review
Our Site review with look to confirm our initial thoughts and provide a Blueprint Design of what we will complete. Records keeping and knowing what we did are key fundamentals with us.
Quote
Our Quote will be detailed, and we will be happy to review or make any adjustments.
Installation
Our Installation will be professional, neat, clean, and we will complete what we outline we will complete. We will provide our customers with close out details: meaning we will verify the work we did: this can include; Data Test Results, Pictures, Floor Plans, and more.
Close Out Details
ITS Telecom is partnered with Industry leading partners. We believe it’s best to partner with proven and reliable equipment manufacturers.
On Going Service & Support
Our commitment to our customers goes beyond simply Sales & Service. We attend industry trade shows, take ongoing training, and work closely with our manufacturers. We want to ensure that the products we deliver provide long-term value and long-term reliability.
Our Standards
We believe it’s best to put our standards in writing. Sure our competitors will probably copy them as they seldom have standards.
- New Data Cabling Runs to be clearly labeled against the floorplan: a way of keeping track of what was agreed to.
- New Data Cabling Runs to be terminated, validated, and tested.
- All runs tested with a proper data tester, not some simple pair tester but actual printable test results showing length, certification, and speed performance.
- We prefer to colour code our projects: Data Connectors, and Patch Cords. This helps create simple visual isolation between the Corporate Data Equipment and other IP systems.

- Appropriate Patch Cords. We prefer to use short patch cords and keep things as nice and neat as possible. While it does take more switch ports we find patch = switch the best at keeping the cords short and professional. A short 1ft patch cord is the least likely to get tangled.
- Appropriate Cable. We prefer to use FT6 plenum cable over less expensive FT4 cable. There are many that use FT4 cable as it’s less expensive. FT6 is has a higher fire rating and is designed for return air ceilings. FT4 Cable is designed to be in the walls or in Conduit. For outdoor cables we prefer to use proper Gel filled outdoor cables. Please consult your local electrical code for more details.
- Appropriate Cable Protection. We prefer to run conduit for outside cable runs. Either rigid EMT or flexible Conduit. FT4 / FT6 Cables degrade in the weather and are not designed to be used outside. A lot of times to keep costs reasonable we only protect the last few feet outside with Conduit.
- Using one manufacturer of cable, not random boxes of the cheapest cable deal of the week.
- Using cable of one colour, not random left over bits from the last five projects in eight different colours.
- Cabling that would pass code and certification. This means properly secured cabling using cable suspension such as J hooks, Velcro, and loose cable ties.
- Distance and length rules are followed. Cat5e / Cat6 cables should only be a total length of 300ft. At 300ft there needs to be an uplink to another data closest (called an IDF) with a data switch or a longer fibre cable to a distance of approx. 550ft. This allows the cables out of both closest to meet under 300 feet from each other
- All cables terminated in an area with enough space for the equipment. Enough room to breathe and enough room to keep the equipment cool.
- All the equipment up off the floor to protect against a flood.
- Using a consistent brand: ITS Telecom installs end to end Wirewerks or Panduit wiring for certified installations with 25 year performance warranties.
- Adhering to Building Codes, Electrical Codes, and more.
- Ensuring we meet Safety Standards: Lift Certificates, Fall Protection, and more.
- Data Test Results: We have the test equipment to back up our work.
- Pictures: we believe the final product should look professional.
